this article is a shame on Chung descendants. CKQ selected his burial ground for himself and his descendants. In 1970 13 acres of land was sold ,what is left is 2 acre of land. Infront of his grave once suppose to be a stream, a pond, and a pavilion, now are all under houses built around it..Although he has a large numbers of descendants, but every year "Ching Meng" time only a few came to clean up his grave yard. In contrast, these 10+ years, Taiping Zheng association members have been coming on "Ching Meng" time to pay respect to this greatman. Every year there are about 30-40 members especially come on a rental bus to Penang to pay their respect. Jeffery , this make me feel very bad. :(
yes, sad. but what to do. most of his descendants have moved away from penang and indeed from malaysia. it is good to know that the tseng-lung association still comes to visit their founder. but yes, sad, but what to do? i would have thought that the total graveyard is much more than just two acres, though, if you consider the grave plots on the hillock on the other side of the street.
ReplyDeleteIt was 13 acres.
ReplyDeleteWhat about u Jeffery, Owen , Audi ? Are you not the descendants ?
ReplyDeleteOwen goes every year. I always go when I go back to Penang. Audi and his brother Moses live in USA like yourselves. Aunty Yuet Wah and Yuet Fong and their adopted brother uncle Kok Hong live in Penang and go every year.
